For the Paris Air Show 2023, SkyReal, a start-up specializing in 3D technology and virtual reality (VR) applied to industrial design, will be presenting applications of its versatile turnkey solution that helps decarbonize the aerospace sector. Inspired from the world of video games and based on the game engine Unreal Engine 5, the SkyReal technologies create a full industrial metaverse at scale 1:1 that helps speed up and optimize the design of new projects through a “First Time Right” approach. SkyReal is therefore revolutionizing methods of design, production and training, and sharply reducing costs and lead times for a more environmentally friendly aerospace sector. SkyReal will be at the GIFAS booth (C140, Hall 2B) at the Paris Le Bourget exhibition center from June 19 to 25, 2023, and will also be at the booths of many partners and clients with their own demos.

SkyReal offers a solution that helps display and iterate industrial designs and work together on them in an interactive virtual environment. Through several concrete applications at the Paris Air Show, the French start-up will show the industrial metaverse’s potential to decarbonize the aerospace sector.

In concrete terms, this solution uses Unreal Engine 5, the latest 3D video-game engine with unrivalled performance levels of calculation, to apply and integrate 3D and VR tools in the whole development cycle of industrial projects and products. With a top-quality Varjo VR headset, users will be able to discover how teams spread out across the world can work on a virtual prototype at the same time. This model of immersive simulation offers natural interactions that are difficult to reproduce in CAD (computer-aided design) environments. And contrary to physical life-size prototypes, a virtual experience can be repeated as many times as necessary for alternative designs before you confirm that it is compliant. So, SkyReal reduces the time, costs and carbon footprint risk for the aerospace sector.

High-performance calculation and display with Varjo XR-3 and Unreal Engine 5

The power of video-game technology and the best VR tools make the possibilities endless and the prospects new for engineers. Varjo headsets are used to train astronauts, pilots and nuclear power plant operators. They are also used to design cars and carry out pioneering research.

On the program

SkyReal Meet-up

A private event that will take place on Tuesday June 20 from 4pm to 5:30pm at the GIFAS booth, alongside special partners of SkyReal:

  • Epic Games:  Sébastien Lozé (Unreal Engine Business Director)
  • Sopra Steria: Josselin Demessine (Head of Engineering Business Line)
  • Varjo: Dorian Frayssinet (Account Executive)

Registration: ilinca@edifice-communication.com / stephane@edifice-communication.com

Demos all week:

Cabin configurator with ATR

Explore all the possibilities for configuring a cabin in VR in an ultra-realistic prototype at a full-size scale. Because the prototype is displayed using the aircraft’s design files, the experience is enriched with accurate data that helps you make the right decisions. This solution gives ATR the capacity to produce realistic representations of each cabin in their sales process.

Training sessions in VR with ArianeGroup

Make the most of the possibilities that VR offers to strengthen your skills, improve performance levels and simulate real scenarios. With SkyReal, ArianeGroup is training its employees in complex procedures and in the use of equipment in a risk-free virtual environment. In this way, ArianeGroup can start training its operators effectively in Ariane 6 operations even before the launch system arrives.

Foresight: the arrival of eVTOLs in everyday life (the air show’s focus)

Foresee tomorrow’s situations through 3D tools, unite project teams around concrete visual aids, and involve stakeholders emotionally in design projects.

Manufacturing: reducing the risk of error when going from design to production, alongside Groupe ADF

Foresee the transition to production during the design phase by using CAD files to imagine the future at a full-size scale. Work with virtual dummies to foresee the risks of musculoskeletal disorders on assembly lines.
